More about air freight

Deciding between sea and air transportation for international cargo can be difficult. ADL recognizes that various factors, such as cargo size, time constraints, and budget must be considered. To assist you in making the best decision for your business, we have compiled a list of the key advantages of air transportation.

Transportation cost

When it comes to shipping goods, air cargo transportation has a major advantage: the distance and transfer airports don’t impact the price. As the weight of the cargo goes up, the cost per kilogram goes down, making it a cost-effective option for shipments of any size.

At ADL, we offer spot prices for oversized or non-standard cargo, ensuring the best value for your shipment. For regular goods, we provide contractual prices to make transportation even more cost-effective.

Formation of the final price for the goods

In air cargo transportation, two weight concepts are taken into account: actual weight and volumetric weight. The shipping charges are determined based on the higher weight of the two. Actual weight refers to the weight of the packaged goods, while volumetric weight is calculated based on the shipment’s dimensions.

The formula used for calculating volumetric weight is Length (in cm) x Width (in cm) x Height (in cm) divided by 6000. One cubic meter equals 166.7 kilograms in volume. It’s important to keep these weight concepts in mind when shipping goods by air.
